Join us on Saturday, January 11, 2025, for a fun-filled Cornhole Tournament hosted by the Knights of Columbus. The event will take place in the parking lot in front of the Parish Life Center (PLC), with an indoor backup plan in case of inclement weather. Boards will be set up for practice starting at 10:00 AM, and the tournament will kick off promptly at 11:00 AM. Please make sure to arrive by 10:00 AM to check in at the main table, as participants who have not checked in before the tournament begins will not be eligible to play. This single-elimination, one-on-one tournament is free and open to everyone aged 16 or older as of January 1, 2025, regardless of faith. Prayer and Life Workshops (PLW) are a series of sessions that help people grow closer to God through prayer. The workshops are intended to teach people to pray and live according to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They are offered at local parishes and are available in both English and Spanish. Our parish will be offering 2 tracks, one in English and one in Spanish starting in January. The workshop consists of 15 Sessions, one Session per Week, each Session lasts 2 hours. The Gumbo Cook-off and Carnival is on Saturday, February 8 from 11am to 3pm. We are kicking off our Gumbo Cookoff and Carnival this weekend at the 10 and 12 PM masses this Sunday. The Advent-Christmas St. Angela Book Club selection is Shadows on the Rock by Willa Cather. This classic book is apropos for the season and engages our belief in the pervasiveness of God's grace in all circumstances. Set in 1697 Quebec Canada, the book depicts a year in the life of a widow, his young daughter and the trappers, missionaries, craftsmen, friends and others who come to their house and shop.  It highlights their struggle to adapt to the "new world" and make a new life for themselves, even as they clung to the one they had left behind. (A fun-fact to note, is that the author is included among the greatest of Catholic authors--and she wasn't even Catholic!)
